Costs, Payments, and Fees

What will my web site cost?

Of course, this is the question eveyone wants answered. Every project is different, so we'll need to get the details of what you want before we can give you a price.

Our rates for our services are competitive. We can usually work within your budget. If your budget is too low, we'll let you know and provide some alternatives.

Please keep in mind, for comparison purposes: Our web sites are custom creations for the individual client. We don't use template web sites. What does this mean to you? It will mean a higher cost. But, more importantly, you won't find your web site design on another web site. Just like you wouldn't want someone else using your name or logo, you don't want someone else to have the same web site design as you.

There will be no surprises or hidden fees. We'll provide you with a contract that will spell out services and costs. Of course, if you later add to the design, that will impact the price, but we'll let you know in advance what that will be.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We currently accept online payment through PayPal and checks. Checks should be made out to Barbara McNeely and sent to this address:

San Antonio, TX 78259-1003

What are all the costs involved?

The costs associated with your web site include: domain registration, hosting, web site design, certificates, and others; depending on your web site. bwh Web Designs will spell out all associated costs in your contract. There will be no surprises.

How much do you require to get started?

A deposit and a signed contract are required before any work is done on your site. The deposit is generally one-third to one-half of the total, depending on size.

The actual payment schedule will depend on project size. You'll be notified regarding the schedule when you receive your contract.

Upon completion of your site by bwh Web Designs, the final payment will be due and payable. Once final payment is received, your web site will be uploaded.

Additional work not included in the original contract will be added on to the balance. Payment in full is required before your web site is uploaded.

How much is a tuneup?

The cost of bwhTuneup is dependent upon the size of your web site. The basic service starts at $75.00 but will increase with the size of your site. If you're interested, let us know and we can give you a quote.

Web Standards

What is Web Accessibility?

Web accessibility is the ability of people with disabilities to use the Web. This means that people with physical, mental and technological disabilities can also access the Web. Providing an accessible web site helps these people to read a web site.

For example, there are screen readers for blind people that enable them to 'surf' the web. By making a web site accessible, you allow them to read a web page faster. These readers literally read the HTML.

Why does Web Accessibility matter?

First, it matters because an accessible web site can be viewed by more people. People with disabilities are consumers, too! Plus, consider that as the current generation of web surfers ages, they may also benefit from accessibility.

And, there are laws on the books that require web sites to be accessible.

How do you make a web site accessible?

bwh Web Designs strives to make each web site we build accessible.

There are a number of factors to consider for accessibility.

  • Color should be considered carefully. It should not be the sole visual cue. Contrast is another aspect of color - high contrast makes pages more readable.
  • Text Size - Styling of text should be done in a manner such that the text can be resized by the visitor.
  • Images - Providing alternate text for images - for those who cannot see them.
  • HTML Tables - should be used only for tabular data - not for page layout.
  • Accessible Navigation
  • And a lot more.

There's a lot involved in making a web site accessible. And it's best done when the site is first built. That's why bwh Web Designs addresses it from the very beginning of the web development process.

Why do web standards matter?

  • Web standards are the building blocks of accessible web sites.
  • Web standards will bring more visitors to your site. A web site built to current standards is likely to work in more browsers and on more devices (such as PDAs and phones).
  • Pages built to web standards will load faster and use less bandwidth. This is because they will use less code to present your web site.
  • Web sites built to standards are easier to maintain.
  • Web sites built to standards will have improved search engine rankings.

For all these reasons, and more, bwh Web Designs builds all of our sites to current web standards.
