Updated Web site

Anna Price was actually my very first customer. She’s a glass artist who creates fabulous fused dichroic glass jewelry. Everything she creates is one-of-a-kind; so in 2005, she didn’t want to try to actually ‘sell’ on her web site. She basically used it as an advertising tool. Not to mention that by selling on the web she would have to devote more time to the web site – taking pictures, putting items on the web, packaging and shipping. She didn’t want to take the time away from her art.
Last year her husband, Don, has decided to take on those web site related tasks for Anna. So we redesigned her, added shopping and now it is live! If you know much about photographing jewelry, you know that it is darn hard to get an image that really shows off the piece. And it’s twice as hard with dichroic glass. But Don has done well with his photography. (He had me as his instructor.) And the pieces on Anna’s site look almost as good as the real thing!
A New Blog

This is a blog that I set up recently for a client. I expect that down the line we’ll see a lot more from The Courier! I created the image at the top and then fit it into an existing theme.

Picking a Vendor for your Site
Posted on January 21, 2009
Recently, I found an article in the local paper on choosing a web site vendor. The article has a lot of good points. I would divide them into two categories: those that the customer does and those done by the web designer.
It often surprises my clients that they have work to do on their web site. Like anything related to marketing your business, you should define the goals and objectives. And, you are responsible for the content. The web designer is responsible for the overall design, under your direction. And they provide the technology and usually the hosting.
Do your homework by defining your web site’s goals, preparing your content and asking your web designer questions.

Announcing FlatLineWear.net
Posted on July 25, 2008
This web site launched yesterday afternoon. The items for sale on the site, mostly t-shirts but other items are planned, are the creation of Greg Cardiel. Greg is a registered nurse who first came up with the idea for FlatLineWear in 1999. And finally, after much hard work, it is now a web site.
Greg has designed a line of unique fashions for medical professionals. Check out his site to see what he has to offer. If you like it, stop by the Feedback page and leave him a comment!

For well over a year now, we’ve gone to dinner at Capparelli’s on Main nearly every weekend. It’s a local Italian restaurant. In the evening on weekends, they always have music. Quite often it has been Two for the Road. They are 2 guys playing piano and guitar and singing.
Then sometime in April, we got to talking about websites. They’ve been wanting one, but didn’t have the time to build it themselves. An idea was born, and this is the result:
Chris and Jerry play a wide range of music; everything from the ’50s on up to recent tunes. They’re great entertainers. Often, while we’re dining, we look around and see quite a few people singing along – me included.
For this design, I was given a business card and told that they wanted to keep the logo. Here’s the card:
I took the gold color, combined it with black and found some music symbols. The line at the bottom of the page “The more you drink… the better we sound” was my suggestion. Every time we’ve seen them play, they have said that at least once!
Check out their site. You can view the calendar to see where they’re going to be. On the music page you can hear clips of some of their songs.

TracyAndNina.com
Posted on April 4, 2007
This is a website I created for my step-daughter and her fiance: Tracy And Nina.(BTW that’s pronounce Nine-ah, not Neena)
They’ve been planning this wedding for quite some time and I believe it is going to be a great event. Not sure what role they play, but Nina mentioned they will even have kazoos!
For this design, I was given only a few parameters and then I had full reign on the site. I asked about colors and was told “yellow” or more specifically butter. (Or “buttah” as my friend Neta would say.) And also blue – since I needed more than one color.
The font I used for the top of the site matches their wedding invitations. The infinity symbol at the bottom of each page also matches the invitations. Nina sent me all the pictures that are on the site’s main pages. Turns out that most of the pictures were taken by either me or my husband – Nina’s father.
For me, building this site was a labor of love. It was quite fun building it. And, it was my wedding present to Tracy and Nina.
